Getting started

What do I need to use Thylib?
Three things: you're a U.S. resident aged 18+, you have a Google account to sign in with, and at least one of your healthcare providers uses Epic / MyChart. Setup is about two minutes — connect your MyChart once, then turn on the Thylib connector in the AI you already use.
How does the 14-day free trial work?
Connecting your first MyChart starts a 14-day trial of the full product — every tool, daily sync, up to 4 family members. No card is collected, so nothing can be charged automatically: when the trial ends, access simply pauses. Your synced records are kept for 30 days after that (subscribe and you pick up where you left off), then permanently deleted. We email you before the trial ends and before any deletion.
Is my hospital supported?
Thylib currently connects to health systems on Epic / MyChart — the portal most major U.S. hospitals run. Oracle Health and athenahealth are on the roadmap; records from providers on those systems won't appear until we support them. — no account needed.
Can I try it without connecting my own records?
Yes — the live demo runs on a fully synthetic family of four with years of realistic records. No subscription, no card, and nothing real is exposed.

Using Thylib with your AI

Which AI assistants work with Thylib?
Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini — plus any client that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Support varies by product and plan; on Claude, custom connectors work on every plan including the free one. The demo page has step-by-step setup for each.
How fresh is the data the AI sees?
Records sync from your providers on a schedule, typically daily — they are not live. A lab drawn this morning may not appear until the next sync. Every answer carries a freshness stamp, and the AI is instructed to flag stale data instead of presenting it as current.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
It can — especially in interpretation. That's why every value the AI cites links back to the exact source record synced from your hospital, so you can verify with one click, and why answers are conversation-starters for your doctor, never a diagnosis. Ask “show me the source” about any claim. More detail in Limits & accuracy. Spot a wrong answer? Email us — every report becomes a test case.

Families & caregiving

How many people does one subscription cover?
Up to 4 people in one family account. One admin manages connections and billing; other members can be viewers. Each person's records are scoped — a family member only sees what their role allows.
Can I connect my child's or parent's records?
Yes, if you have the legal authority and portal access to do so — for a child, that's your MyChart proxy access; for another adult, their documented permission. One honest caveat: many hospitals sharply restrict parent proxy access for adolescents (often ages 12–17) under state privacy laws, so what appears in Thylib for a teen mirrors whatever your MyChart proxy can see — which may be limited.
How does connecting my child actually work?
Through the same proxy access you already use in MyChart — no separate login for your child is needed. Add your child as a family member in Thylib, start the connection from their profile, and sign in with your ownMyChart account. Because your account has proxy access, Epic then asks which person's records you're linking — choose your child, review what's shared, and allow access. From then on their records sync like any other family member's. Three things to know: each person is a separate connection, so connect yourself and your child in two passes; a few health systems don't allow app connections through proxy accounts — if your child never appears on Epic's selection screen, that's the hospital's setting, not yours; and when a hospital later limits proxy access (commonly in the early teens), syncing simply stops or narrows — everything already in your library stays, and we never delete records unless you ask us to.

Privacy & security

Do you sell my data, or use it to train AI?
No and no. We don't sell or share your data with advertisers, researchers, or insurers, and your records are never used to train any model on our side. The only place records go is the AI you connect, when you ask a question — and the first few times you use ChatGPT or Gemini, our answers include the exact setting that keeps your conversations out of their training. See Privacy Policy and AI Disclosure.
Is Thylib covered by HIPAA?
Honest answer: no — HIPAA covers your providers, not consumer-directed copies of your own records. What protects you at Thylib instead: state consumer-health-data laws (like Washington's MHMDA and California's CMIA), the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule, encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging of every read, and our contract with you — which forbids us from selling or sharing your health data. Details in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete everything?
One click from your account page, any time. Health records are deleted immediately and permanently destroyed — including backup copies — within 14 days. We keep only what the law requires — billing records and the security audit trail — never your medical data. Deleting your Thylib copy never touches the records at your providers.

Billing

What does it cost?
$39.99 per year for the whole family (up to 4 people), after the free trial. Billed annually via Stripe; renews automatically with reminder emails about 40 days and again about 15 days before each renewal.
How do refunds and cancellation work?
Cancel online in one click, any time — no phone call. Either turn off auto-renewal and keep access through the year you paid for, or cancel immediately for a prorated refund of the unused part of your year. Full terms in the Refund Policy.
